Statement on FBI Hate Crime Data Report

We know many people in the Arlington community were frustrated and upset by the recent FBI report on hate crime data in Arlington. We encourage everyone to read this article, which provides some context for the report. In short, hate crimes are up throughout the country and throughout the Commonwealth, and we are fortunate to live in a town that is meticulous about tracking and labeling hate crimes as such. There is, however, much work to be done, as these incidents have no place in Arlington and we would like to see those numbers fall to zero. We encourage people to continue to report these incidents and also to speak out against verbal, physical and written forms of bigotry and hatred.
