Everyone has a personal story. Oftentimes stories about the people in our community force us to do a “double take” on our expectations, assumptions and biases. In February of 2019, we hosted our second community storytelling event, Double Take II: Stories That Make You Think Twice from the Arlington Community. The event was part of a series of community-building activities, whose goal is to encourage members of the Arlington community to learn how to tell their own personal stories, share their stories with the community, and listen and learn from the stories of other community members. The program includes a storytelling workshop, coaching sessions, a community-wide storytelling event and reception at Town Hall. This year's event featured 7 storytellers with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences and once again filled Town Hall with stories that showcased the diversity of Arlington.
